Horizon: In 1999 one of the most respected journals in the world announced the discovery of a half-bird, half-dinosaur fossil which appeared to prove one of the most controversial theories in palaeontology : that dinosaurs had evolved into birds. Horizon examines why scientists initially authenticated the find, and documents their subsequent embarrassment when it was revealed as a hoax.
